You are incorrect with your recollection of the production numbers. I think you might have gotten four door sedans mixed up with four door hard-tops, four door hardtops were far from the highest selling body style

as you said "just for the record"....... so lets at least get the record straight

    1957 Belair Production

    four door sedan   254,331

    four door hardtop 137,672

    two door hardtop  166,426

    1957 210 production

    four door sedan  260,401

    four door hardtop 16,175

    two door hardtop  22,631

    56 Belair Production

    four door sedan  269,796

    four door hardtop 103,602

    two door hardtop 128,382

    1956 210 Production

    four door sedan  283,125

    four door hardtop 20,021

    two door hardtop 56,382

On trips to our summer place in Northern Michigan, I've driven by a 1956 chevy 210 four door hardtop that's been for sale for the past year. I realized it was somewhat rare but didn't understand that fully until I saw your published numbers.

  2. There's a red 1964 SS convertible listed in our local club's newsletter here in the West Michigan area.  It's described as a 327 2x4 barrel engine with some chrome accessories.  Newer top and interior.  Chrome and trim new.  Many extra accessories.  Asking $31,500.  Pictures available.  Phone (616) 884-5184 if interested.

Haven't seen the car and don't know the owner.  Just passing info on.

  3. Had a 1964 Monza convertible for 20 years with the 95 hp powerglide combo.  Was skeptical about adequate power before I bought it, but it had surprisingly good low end grunt and was a really smooth running trouble free motor. It cruised well at highway speeds.  Members of  our local Corvair club often commented about how well it ran.  I believe that the '65 Corvair on Craig's list that I posted is in the Petoskey, MI area where we have a summer place.  I'm there frequently.  Could probably do an eyes on for you if that would help with the info gathering process.

  4. Here's a possible Corvair candidate that seems to fit the search parameters.  1965 Corvair Monza coupe with a 95 hp motor and power glide transmission.  It was restored by a retired GM engineer and has a 13 page personal log on recipes and rebuilds.  14,500 miles on rebuilt motor.  It has a dual master cylinder.  5 year old tires with less than 2000 miles on them.  Price is $7400 or best offer.  Car is located in Northern Michigan.  Call or text at (231) 633-0382.     Also, check it out on the Northern Michigan Craigslist. http://nmi.craigslist.org/cto/614856884.1html

  5. Started driving tractor solo at age six and with attached power equipment at age 8.  Drove my Grandfather's 1949 Dodge Coronet at age 10.  Not sure if this counts, but in a sense drove a 1940 Chevy coupe at age 3.  The car was left in gear with the driver's door ajar.  I sat on the floor, braced my back against the base of the seat and stepped on the starter pedal.  My mother glanced out the kitchen window and saw the car lurching toward the apple tree.   She promptly rescued the car and me.

The summertime shows at Carlisle tend to be narrowly focused,

and even though they're large, the variety of cars is quite a bit less than at other big shows.

Cutlass Guy's pictures give a good cross-section of the G. M. cars there, I think.

    The Ford show as been very much dominated by Mustangs;

the Chrysler show has been very much dominated by Mopar muscle cars.

If those are your focus, you'll be in heaven.  If you are looking for a wide variety,

and want to see tailfinned Plymouths, and Airflows, and Town and Countries,

they will be minuscule if they are represented at all.

KVP, if you want to see a great show in Pennsylvania, come instead to Macungie, Pa.

("Das Awkscht Fescht" event)  August 6 and 7.  It's organized annually by the local

Ontelaunee Region of the AACA, and they have 1100 antique cars there

both Saturday and Sunday.  It's in a beautiful town park, with mature shade trees, a big craft show,

music in a band shell, and so on.  The cars are diverse, from brass Model T's on up.

I can't think of any better local show.

Thanks for information on the Macungie, Pa. show.  Sounds like a great show and very worthwhile to attend.  I like the availability of mature shade trees in a park setting!  Also like the diversity of the cars.  Won't work out for this summer, but I'll keep it in mind.

  7. They are just explaning the history of this 1906 car.  First sold to Paris and after endet up in French Guinea. Than it was discoverd by a dutch colector ho unexpected died last year januari.

The rest of the video shows the restauration. Technics did not need much work. Engine onley new bearings and piston rings, the same for the axels. Probaly the car had verry few millage. The boddy work needet new wood and the firwall was reproduced.  Onley 14 spycer cars are known worldwide. The Original wheelspokes are used. The restauration took 16 months.  Than it was presented at a famous car show in Holland.

    Great old car.

Thanks for summarizing the video clip!  :)

  8. Thanks for sharing the video of this unique, beautiful car.  Enjoyed it very much. It would have been even better with English captions.  Have Dutch roots but am too many generations from "just the boat off".  Unfortunately, my Dutch vocabulary is limited to words that shouldn't be spoken in polite company.

  9. Check with Clark's Corvair, Inc. in the state of Massachusetts (www.corvair.com).  They are the major supplier of Corvair parts, manuals, etc. and should have info on exported Corvairs.  Also, check out CORSA (Corvair Society of America) which also covers Corvair clubs located outside the USA.  Hope this helps.

  10. Aluminum body. What do you have to do to get it prepped for paint?

    Dakota,

I think you'll find the following site helpful for paint prep, painting, and autobody in general.  Len, the site's owner, also has a body/paint shop and is hands on there on a daily basis.  It's a user friendly site with a lot of posters who are professional painters.  Looks like a fun project that's not alot of money to purchase.  Have fun, Keith

  11. Didn't know you'd been involved in a crash.  Really glad that you lives were spared.  Wishing you and your wife the very best in the healing and recovery process.  As you move forward, please continue with your build threads.  I really enjoy them and learn much from them as I'm sure do many others on this site.

  12. The DeVaux was manufactured in Grand Rapids, MI as you can see from the ID plate. I reside in the Grand Rapids area. There is a DeVaux coupe on display in the Van Andel Public Museum here. If you're interested in DeVaux history, you may want to contact the museum. I'm sure they would be glad to assist you.
