  1. I was in contact several times around '00 with Al Smith of Ram Enterprises in Calif. before he passed away. I bought some of his repro stuff and he got interested in my KCL. I can't put my hand on the letter right now,I've looked this morning, but Al said in one of his letters the car frames from 1933 were the same as the 1/2 ton truck frames for '33,'34 and '35 in the 112" length except for "a cross piece at the rear near the gas tank". I would like to find that letter to confirm my memory but I do remember him saying they were the 'same'. I suppose that was one more reason why Chrysler called them Commercial Cars. I assume the 119" long wheelbase chassis like mine would again be the 'same' except for length and this 'cross piece'. I do not have another chassis or photo to compare mine to so I don't know what cross piece he was referring to.

Al had several 1933 and '34 car and truck chassis in varying conditions so I have to assume he knew what he was talking about. He published a fantastic catalog of repro parts for those years and is greatly missed. His stock and business was bought by Vintage Dodge of Calif. but they have let it die.

Didn.t die KCL. Had to go through alot of legal stuff to contnue the business. Plus i came into this with no knowledge of this business plus running a trucking company.

  3. The part that cost is the liability part. That is why the cost is low on the old cars. We have 20 cars insured with the prem about 4000.00 a year. They know that your not going to drive these cars on a regular baises. Prems will probaly go up because of Sandy. This is why you have to have a regular car for daily use when you have a old car to insure.

  4. I have my daily driver and 34 Dodge street rod ( 392 with a 871 blower 800 hp) insured for 45.000 with AAA in CA. 180.00 for 12 months on the 34. 200.00 a year on my daily driver, a 2003 Buick SUV. 0 deductable on the 34 also.

  6. I remember hanging out with the guys who built this.....The Silver Bullet. Jimmy Addison and the boys' car.....
The guy that ownes that car bought the 31 Ply that he bought from Mike. He was working on a Hemi that lost oil presure in a 34 Dodge? That car was bad a$$.
  7. My dad worked at the GM Tech center then to the Milford proving grounds in 50s and 60s. He would bring home hot cars of all makes and he would take me and a friend or two to go street racing. He was a racer in the late 40s and 50s untill he tee boned a brand new 55 Chev cop car. Romember Woodward All with a blown 67 Corvette? He was a small black guy with a cigar in his mouth all the time.

  8. No, I do not still have the car, but my friend Scott (ScottsDG8) in Michigan owns it now. This is how far the restoration of it is at this time...pay no attention to the extended shackles on the rear....they were on the car when I got it and they are coming off.
What part of Mi.? I was born and raised on Woodward Ave and Det. Dragway.
  9. I'm sorry, but I just have to add that if you have been giving folks the same advice, you had better study the car in question before giving advice. I am NOT trying to be a jerk. It's simply a matter of knowing about "special" cars. The 383 Dart 4-speed production was only something like 92 made. There was a reason for that. They were hard to steer. To the "average" Dart or Barracuda, your advice would be well taken, but NOT the big block cars.
Do you still have this car? I have a 68 Cuda, conv, 383 s car. the only 1 made with this combo.
