Seeking mechanical parts for Model Q Maxwell with the 3 3/4 x 4 T head engine, especially engine, transmission, rear end parts or complete assemblies. Also seeking original sales literature, parts book etc for 1910 models.

Brent,
What is the bore and stroke, wheelbase? I would think the radiator shape would help with identification. Does the radiator have a radiator maker's tag? The engine could perhaps be misleading, could be a replacement engine, if it is indeed Hupp size then it would seem to be a little small for that chassis?

Congratulations on the excellent workmanship, I look forward to seeing your progress on it.
Do you have any information or experience regarding the touring performance of the Fiat 2b, are they strong runners?
-
A really neat photo that they posted on theoldmotor.com where you can read more about it.

This 1/43rd scale model (made by Solido or RIO, can't recall) captures the Alfa's weirdness quite well...
It's an older model and rather primitive, but the range was and is inexpensive.
If you have to have one, that is.
TG
Hey, Thanks for posting those photos the model is really neat.

You must check this one out at The Old Motor, the 1913 Alfa-Romeo Aerodinamica. Full details here.

Over on The Old Motor they have been running a great series that is now up to
Part VIII all about the Cunningham Cars that were powered by the Chrysler Hemi.
-
See this great photo on The Old Motor and read more about the interesting location

They have had many great posts on The Old Motor recently including a great article on this one-off
Harley Earl 1952 Cadillac including 8 more excellent photos.
-
That looks like a really interesting project but I need to stick to something a bit earlier. Perhaps an EX? I especially like the '05-'08 Stanleys. I would be interested in any Stanley running gear pre-'12 or so.
-
Tom, That sounds like something I might be interested in, do you have anything besides the engine? Please let me know age and condition.
-
I am looking for a small to medium size 4 cyl. brass car to restore for touring. Poor condition or chassis is fine, I like mechanical challenges, especially for something unusual. Any Stanley running gear out there?
-
I noticed that they have done another Duesenberg post on theoldmotor.com with a photo of this gorgeous Murphy berline.
There are also four other Fred Roe photos in the post, which is very interesting.
-
Minor nit but those are both model "J" not "SJ".
Your are right about that, both illustrations show J's, what I meant was there is a nice SJ photo in the link.
-
Here are some photos of included in a link to a very interesting Arch Brown SIA Drive Report article at HMN Blog , along with a beautiful photo of an Duesenberg SJ Le Grand phaeton.

This Duesy Pic was posted on HAMB by Yellerspirit. It looks like a well known pic of a movie star and his starlets. Does anyone know the details?
The car has survived and these Fred Roe Collection photos of it are on The Old Motor at different times in its early life.

What's their deal relative to supporting them (not meant to sound like a wise guy..) - I mean, do they sell prints or what?
How's about the lines on that Duesy - WOW!!
Thanks,
Steve, by support I mean visit their site daily and also visit the sponsors websites.
They spend about six hours a day running the site which they plan to use for giving
back to the hobby.
They are going to have a scolarship fund drive for a student at McPherson College in the future and they are also working with the Collectors Foundation to help in educating youth that are
coming into the old car trades.
They don't sell anything and yet they are spending considerable funds on photos for the site and the operation of it. But you can help by visiting their sponsors websites and submitting photos for them to use. I was able to meet David and his wife at a flea market and later on stopped by to visit their shop. They are super nice people that are working very hard to help the old car world. That is why I have been posting some of their photos here to help get them more exposure.
They are also helping out the Larz Anderson Automobile Museum. I will post a link to the incredible Packard photos they are posting for the museum to help them get some exposure.
-
Thanks for sharing the great link of pictures of that "eye candy".
Your welcome Bleach, I really liked my visit to The Old Motor to see their shop and some of their photos. They sure are doing the hobby a big favor and we should support them.

I was at The Old Motor a few weeks ago and was able to look at some of the photos that they have on their site in person.
One was of this interesting Model J Duesenberg with a Weymann body. They have all ready posted over five pages of photos from the Fred Roe collection Duesenberg Collection which are a joy to look at. You can see them here at theoldmotor.com

There are a number of low melt temperature Bismuth alloys very close to Woods metal, see:
I believe the first one on the list is actually woods metal, but the others might also work.
-
Rusty, Yes you are correct about that, a whole bunch of readers it seems had it all fiqured out on The Old Motor in no time yesterday morning.
Here is a link to another post that they put up this morning with many more links with some really interesting photos and much more info.
-
I was fortunate to be able to visit The Old Motor Shop last weekend for the first time. David Greenlees
who runs it showed me this photo of an unknown streamliner from the UK that had just arrived in the mail.
They posted it just this morning,so take a look and see if you can help ID it for them.
-
T-Head, I did not see this posted on your site when I posted the other photo a while ago, are you holding out on us? LOL
-
The really neat photo was on theoldmotor.com a few weeks ago. It's location has been ID'ed and you can read about on their comments. Go to The Old Motor for an enlargement and a detail shot of the sign lined in neon, how cool.
Wanted automobile turntable c. 1905-20

I know its a long shot but I am looking to find a restorable turntable. Perhaps someone out there is renovating or razing an old garage or carriage house that still has one that can be saved from the scrapper. New England/northeast preferred.
