  1. I bought the car a few months back (1991 v6).. I am trying to diagnose what appears to be a fuel issue (too much fouling the spark plugs). Tried to do the check engine light, but when I turn on the ignition and get no lamps. I am thinking whoever had the car before likley had the check engine light on so they cut something to shut them all off. I know it is not a fuse as there are other items on that fuse and also switched it... other guages work e.g. fuel, oil, temp... but none of the 4 warning lamps that sit over the top of the light switch.. also checked all the bulbs and they are good.:confused:

  2. I am guessing I need a new one... I charged the a/c and it has a leak in the compressor... can hear the hiss of the air leak and also see oil dripping from the bottom of the compressor after charging with UV r-134 (it had a conversion some time in the past.

    Any thoughts on where I should get a compressor? There are a bunch listed on ebay, but all different part numbers. I have a 91 V6:confused:

  3. Getting ready to work on the head gasket... I have a leak (water coming out) at the joint between the head and block right over the rear exhaust manifold... funny dont get any water in oil or oil in water, but I get a constant leak when engine is running... Hoping nothing is cracked.

    Given that it is a pretty standard engine, I am hoping I dont have any issues. Anyone done one of these before? any tricks or roadblocks to be aware of?

    I think I can just get a head gasket kit from any local parts store.

  4. hooked up to battery... ran up, switched the wires and ran down... checked the switch when I push up I get voltage... also when I push down... but when I hook switch to motor, get nothing when I push the down switch... motors were frozen... worked at them awhile and they went... the switch was bad... took it apart and bent some of the metal back and all is good... anyone wants to know anything about ripping apart doors and quarter panel trim, let me know... lol

  5. having the same kind of issue... mine is in OD then downshifts suddlenly (once every 30 miles or so)... then will shift back and forth a few times... I just shift in manually back to drive, then after a few miles put it back in OD... I will let you know if I can figure out anything... I like your suggestion on something with a sensor... I was wondering if the motor was missing or losing power and so it downshifts...

  6. difficult to get to those rear windows... checked the power and that is good, so motors must be bad. Had to remove a lot of panels as well as the rear speakers and seat belts to just get into those motors. Fixed the door lock... the antenna motor is fine, but the mast cable is broken, cant find one small enough re replace it... raised the front end and started working on that shake. while under there I noticed some water coming out of the exhaust manifold (rear one) so think I will have a head gasket to do (no water in oil and no oil in water, but water is leaking from the gasket. Passed smog with flying colors... working out the kinks and have more to do...

    New question... are the trim pieces that run downt he center of the doors glued on? Could not find any hooks or screws or pins when I had the door apart. the driver door has a dent right over the trim piece so I want to remove and replace... love the car, already getting compliments.

Just bought a 1991 TC, red, complete, v6. $2500 111K. car runs well, but sometimes seems to have a miss... all items appear to work except (power antena, rear windows (both of them, so think electrical), some samll tears in the seats (looks like some stitchin) a few dings in the hood and trunk from hail, the front wheels appear loose when you rock them and they wobble a little (like they are out of balance, but believe it is suspension not balance) and the shocks need replacements... last thing is it popped out of O/D into drive... so something with that

    Hopefully I can get some advice... are these normal problems or has anyone had these before... especially on the front wheels.. (ball joints? wheel bearings, etc.)

    Any way to get repair manuals?

    since both rear windows are out... electric issue?

    anyone have the transmission problem before?

  8. chrysler TC 6 cylinder... car downshifts from O/D to Drive while cruising at freeway speeds (and without accelerating). Not sure if this is something in the engine control or if it means that my transmission is going... 114K miles. Fluid looks good and have no shifting problems in any other gears... seems to only slip out after it warms up and only sporadically (once ever 20 or 30 files)...:confused:
