  1. Thanks MrEarl. With your help I found a great shop and the Special is about to be on her way to her new home. Mike has worked his A$$ off getting her back in shape. Hope to see you in Springfield this June.
  2. OK..we are getting very close. Mike has worked hard to bring all the mechanicals back to life: Fully rebuilt engine and accessories, fuel system, brakes, radiator (x3), gauges and radio, and much more and we are arranging transport to St. Louis. Very excited to see her again after all these years!
  3. Can't wait to see the old girl again! Thanks Mike! (And Mr. Earl and Father Buick and Mr Riviera!)
  4. Waiting for enclosed carrier transport (Intercity Lines) to pick her up this week...shipping to my new friend Mike Middleton (buick5563) at Midtown Restorations in Austin TX for her restoration...
  5. Sold locally a couple days ago, sad to see her go but now have room and cash for the Special 2dr HD.
  6. When I owned it in the 80s-90s it was two-tone Victoria Blue and Temple Grey, all black interior. That was its second paint job. The current black and white paint and interior were done by the gentleman some time after I sold it to him in '97. I believe the original color was mint green, monotone. I will probably repaint either the stock color, or the blue/blue that I knew her with back in the day. I located her in 2009 with the help of a PI in CA, but the owner wasn't ready to sell then. Glad he finally changed his mind!
  7. Made the deal today! They accepted my offer...very excited to get my first car back...now working on transporting it and identifying a shop to get her running again...
  8. Thanks Mr. Riviera...you are right, there will never be another car like this one, for me. Turns out the car hasn't been running for a while, so it's hard to find a dollar value to go from. I went ahead and cancelled the appraisal since it's not running. Will make a reasonable offer given the non-running condition, and offer more if they can get it running and go from there. And thanks Father Buick for trying to get out there and take a look for me! Will post a follow-up when the negotiations are over with...
  9. Hi Father Buick! I am Mr. Earl's friend in St. Louis, who is interested in a '55 Special 46R currently located in Joshua Tree. I saw from your profile that you are in Orange, CA, which is a funny coincidence, since the Buick Special we are talking about was my first car that I bought at age 15 in 1985, right in Orange, CA, where it spent most of it's life until I had to sell it to the current owner, who is now living in Joshua Tree. I am having the car appraised and inspected by a company, but I would very much appreciate your opinion if it would be possible for you to take a look while you are in the area. My email is smythm@sbcglobal.net, and my cel is 314-323-0922 if you want more details on the car's history and current condition. much appreciated, either way, Matt
  10. Still looking for an original left door sill for the 56R Super...anyone parting out a 50/70 series 1955? Could also use the front bar to hold up the hood insulation...
  11. Hi John...I need a few parts for my '55 Super: left door sill, spare tire/wheel and jack, and the left door window channel. Matt 314-323-0922
  12. To replace a missing glove box liner in my '55 Super...do I need to remove the glove box door? Or can I squeeze it in from underneath/behind and secure it? any advice is welcome!
  13. Try Bob's Automobilia: $32.00 Horn Cable Contact NOS. 1949-60 HC-499 Bob's Automobilia
  14. Stevo: I think if it was a '54 he might have written the check....
  15. I have a 1955 Buick Super, looking for the window guide/channel for the left driver window. This part goes inside the door and stabilizes the window in it's track.
  16. I'm looking for a left door sill but would buy both sides if they were in good condition. This is for a 1955 Buick Super 56R located in St. Louis.
  17. Spent the weekend getting to know the new '55 Super...replaced the generator, fixed the horn, dome light, license plate lights, trunk light. Secured some loose chrome and bumpers and tail pipe. Ordered some rubber replacement parts from Steele. And of course drove her around a lot!
  18. Posted a few pictures in my profile album... The generator was DOA yesterday, but thanks to a contact through BCA I already found a possible replacement I'm going to pick up tomorrow...
  19. Thanks guys! Glad to be a 1955 Buick owner again! Had a '55 Special in the 1980's and 1990's. Feels great to own one again. Adam: I sent my membership form to the local Gateway BCA chapter yesterday! See you at the April 16th oil change event! And yes, it's the original Buick motor....
  20. Many thanks to Mr Earl for his help in my quest for a beautiful 1955 Buick...she arrived today from Florida, on my 40th birthday, after several months of searching. Squeezed her into the garage tonight after a few trips around the neighborhood. Much to do, but all is well. Thanks Mr Earl!
  21. Loved the online episodes...found 1, 3 and 4 on vimeo. How can we see more?
  22. I might be interested...Still available? Title? Rust? Garaged? How's the chrome? What needs to be done to it? Matt--cel 314-323-0922
