  1. Hello. I am in need of a good fuel tank for my father's 1956 buick roadmaster. 618-550-5200. Or rapidride2@sbcglobal.net. Thank you, Matt from Saint Louis.
  2. I dont have a hollander book around. Any leads on a 56 super or roadmaster 2 or 4 door tank? Wheatbelt couldnt help me. My other leads have all lead to nowhere. Any suggestions?
  3. I am in need of a gas tank for a 56 Buick Roadmaster 2-door that is in restorable to excellent condition. I am in Cahokia, Illinois 62206. I am 10 min away from Saint Louis, Mo. Let me know what you have. Thanks, Matt Green 618-550-5200 or rapidride2@sbcglobal.net
  4. I am beginning an attempt to source a gas tank for my fathers' 2-door 56' Roadmaster. Is this a stand alone tank as far as design. Tanks Inc. catalog runs from 41-54 only. I myself am not interested in an aftermarket tank. Would other years work? Would a super or 4-door roadmaster work? Thanks for all who can help. Matt.
  5. Cool. I realize how hard this setup id to find.I also scored an easily repairable 4 barrel exhaust manifold off the same car.
  6. Hello. It seems that I have scored a rare power steering system for my 52' with a straight 8 320. However it is out of state and it was pulled as a complete assembly with except the steering wheel. My question is...Can I have disassemble the black column sleeve from the blue steering box? (I believe there are 4 bolts) This way it will ease in shipping because as of now it is around 6ft long. Will the steering shaft come loose here? Anything to lose here?
  7. Hello, I have a 52'roadmaster with manual steering. I have located a 52' roadmaster with power steering out of state. I have a question. Were the 4 barrel power steering intakes used on the 52' Roadmaster different than the manual steering? Casting numbers say yes. According to the gentlemen out of state, the 4 barrel 320 with power steering has a casting number of 1345315-3 and my manual steering 4 barrel intake is DEFINITELY 1345375-4? I realize he could he be mistaking his 1 to be a 7. However I am not sure about the -3 and -4 differences? He also states that there is a bracket for the power steering that mounts to a boss. I have been awaiting pics but he isn't very computer savvy so i have to wait on future pics. I thought someone just may be able to help me on this wonderful board. Thanks. Matt.
  8. Did you need the harmonic balancer, water pump pulley for the swap? I am assuming i could use my current steering wheel. i wonder if i could use my existing steering center link?
  9. Hello, I have found a 52' Buick road master with a power steering set up. However it is a thousand + miles away. I am wanting to get this rare setup. however I need details on everything i should get. I'm assuming i need to get the crank pulley on the harmonic balancer, brackets pump. reservoir, lines etc. How does this dismantle from the steering column? Can I use my original manual steering column and bolt the power steering unit to mine? Does it unbolt from the steering tube? Anything else i need like a pitman arm etc???? Also, will my gear selector linkage mechanisms on my non-power steering car work with this unit or do i need the set up from the power steering car (i hope not) Is a column (steering shaft) the same on a power steering car versus non-power steering car? (i really hope not) I am 38 so I don't know too much about this setup.. i just know it's rare and would be a great addition to my 52 riviera road master. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Hey 1957 Buick jim. Are those pics the Eastwood tank tone or the duplicolor flat aluminum? I've definitely thought about paint but wasn't sure how much tank coating would cost.
  11. Fortunately I have been able to find some fine mesh screen at Grainger supply which is like 15 min away. i will take mine by there on Monday to do a visual match with 2 part numbers i have found on their website. Thanks.
  12. I'm assuming i could get this stainless mesh locally as well??? However it does look to be a very fine mesh.
  13. Wow thanks for the awesome reply!!!!!!!!!
  14. I have questions regarding the correct finish for the Buick fuel tanks. Were these silver cad plated or galvinized or??? I know there are several finishes out there from Eastwood etc... But i am wondering if there is anybody out there who has had there fuel tank properly restored, and if so who out there is doing the work and what kind of money is this type of work going for? Thanks.
  15. Want to buy. A 1956 Buick Dynaflow filter. I realize these are reusable but mine is separating and starting to deteriorate. Let me know what you have. I am near Saint Louis. Thanks, Matt.
  16. Yeah that's what I am trying to do. I am having problems finding one locally. I am looking for leads.
  17. Where can i find a filter kit for a 56' roadmaster dynaflow. I realize these are reusable but mine is starting to separate and isn't really wise to use it any longer. I cannot locate one locally and am in need of one. Any suggestions??? Thanks, Matt.
  18. Thats a good idea to call Bilstein. I will do that.
  19. Well I checked the adjustment of the center link per the gm manual. It was dead on. I tightened the end plugs up until they stopped and backed off 1/2 turn before installing the cotter key. That seemingly checked out well. i may be turning my attention to the steering box itself. It seems as if the car is wandering or "floating" due to the fact of having too much play in the steering box itself. I have to move the steering wheel 8-10" (who knows how many degrees that is) before the steering gear under the car will respond. It seems as if i have too much dead area in the steering box before it will correct creating the feeling of wandering. If it responded better it wouldn't be such a a handful to keep in a straight line. Any ways to check this out while on the car? Any reputable steering box rebuilders out there? I hope "I AM GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION" with this.
  20. Right now it's rolling on Coker radials. As far as the center link, I will have to check into the center link adjustment as I am not sure what that entails. I do know it had new cotter pins in each end. I took an end off for inspection and found it to be lubed very well. I then reasembled it knowing I didn't have parts for a rebuild. As far as the steering box, it seems there isn't much play in the box itself. With the car on jacks I get a response in the steering gear with rotating the steering wheel 6-8".
  21. 1956 Buick Roadmaster has some slop at he king pins from 12 to 6 o'clock. Will this cause the car to wander in a straight line? I realize this car is 56 years old but it is a Handful to drive. If i were followed at night by a cop I would probably get pulled over for wandering back and forth. I checked all tie rods, ball joints, adjusted wheel bearings, and even checked the centerlink hoping to figure this out. All parts had plenty of new grease, i also adjusted the steering box. There isn't a lot of slop in the steering box but it still is a definite wanderer. Anything else I can check? or does this seem dead on with the sloppy king pins (roughly1/16-1/8'' of slop) Thanks, Matt.
  22. Quick question. Believe it or not I found a place in California who offers a set of Bilstein shocks for 56-57 Buick Specials. Are the Special shocks the same as Roadmaster? According to Advanced auto parts the rare parts shocks are the same part numbers for all 4 shocks. I don't mind paying more$ for a quality shock such as a Bilstein if they will work.
