  1. Car has been sitting in a barn since 2008. Not running. MUST SELL due to sale of property in Elko, NV. Plan a summer trip the last week in July and take it away for $300. Clear Title. 401 engine. Drivers side front fender is slightly damaged . Trans leaks at torque ball (common problem) Interior in great shape. Seats were covered when new. Beautiful condition. Tons of great parts.  Location off I-80 exit in Elko, Nevada. Car has to be pulled out and towed on trailer or flatbed. Questions? Let me know ASAP. If not sold by August 1st, car will be scrapped (which I will hate to do)

I WILL CONSIDER ANY REASONABLE OFFER.  Would like to see this week (August 10th). I do not know the weight of one of these, so buyer must pay shipping. (allenmichaelp (at) yahoo.com.

  3. Can't I get more help on this topic??  Really need to resolve the issue with these soft, spongy brakes. I plan to tow in the next several weeks and I'm wondering if this ABS system is a help or hindrance???? All help-thoughts-suggestions, experience with this brake system is appreciated.

  4. I just recently purchased a 96 Suburban  K1500 4x4. It's loaded with all the 'bells and whistles' including the ABS system. Having never driven a vehicle with this system, I am  having quite a time adjusting to this braking system.

I will be using this van for towing. The brakes are presently very soft. This after replacing the front calipers, pads and rear brake shoes and bleeding the entire brake system. I have not started towing yet, but the low 'soft' pedal has me really worried. Previously, I had an 89 4x4 that would stop on a dime No ABS.

I understand there were problems with this system. some people simply remove it; other replace the module.

I'd like to hear from users in this group on the best advice on what to do to achieve a firm pedal.

Thanks to ALL for your help!!

  6. Looking for good used front pump plate out of a Dynaflow tranny 1957 to 1963. Not sure if earlir years are the same. Typically, this part causes complete unit failure.  Many times, the front pump gouges out the front of the pump plate for a variety of reasons. The one from my transmission has a slight gouge. I don't want to take a chance and put it in. So hoping for a nice used one.  Thanks everyone!!

  7. I have the same problem with my 61 Dynaflow. The problem...according to Dynaflow repair experts, is the front clutch pack. Replace the frictions and steel clutches. I had same problem. Low and reverse (as I' m told) are not on same band. I think to tackle the problem and since 99% of the transmission has to come apart, it's best to just get it rebuilt.  Good Luck.

Maybe the OP's problem is looking for something that doesn't exist.   His original post (which he hasn't edited and corrected) was for "dextron" not "Dexron".

This problem seems to be getting bigger as we misspell, mispronounce and improperly name more and more of our automotive needs.

Let he, who is not guilty of the same offense, cast the first stone.  What a waste of time. Glad to know there are people out in Buickland who has too much time on their hands.

  9. Hello. Getting ready to install new friction and steel clutches in my Dynaflow transmission. However, I see postings where people say to soak the frictions for up to a half hour before installing. Not sure if this applies to later transmission models.

Can some of you more experienced transmission specialists weigh in??

    Many Thanks!!

  10. I have an 89 3/4 ton Suburban with the TH 400 transmission. I do hauling with it mostly.  I'm investigating options for the FI unit on the truck.  Van gets only about 11 miles to the gallon, no matter if I'm towing or not. Aside from an upgraded FI unit, I have heard of a torque converter for hauling and RV applications. Before I make a move, thought I'd ask members of this forum for their thoughts and suggestions.

The truck has been bulletproof. Has never stranded me, always starts, regular maintenance.  Thanks very much for your help.
