I sent you a PM last week, did you receive?

To my knowledge, the name SEQUOIA CREAM was used by Buick from 1936 thru 1953. however, the shades of this color changed slightly over these years.
My '41 Super, with the dark red leather.

I need one.
My finned covers have been collecting dust for too long.
I put my name on Clark's Corvair list several yrs. ago.
They told me the person who made the bracket for Clark's passed away.

Hi Riviera63,
The more I fool around with this project, the more I'm inclined to take your last suggestion and leave it as is!
Thanks for your reply.

Telriv,
No I don't believe the seat frames for '63-'65 are the same.
There are NO attaching points for the arm rest on the '63. But I have not seen a seat frame for a '64-'65

Has anyone installed the rear armrest option in a '63? I'm sure the seat frame is different for the '63 than the '64 - '65.
Looking to benefit from someone who's done this already.
Thanks,

Thanx for the color tips; I'll probably leave it the Buick green I recently painted it. I'll keep searching for the ring until the time comes when I need to put the balancer back on the engine, then glue it up
Matt, hows things in NC, used to live in Eden 'til 2014, back home in No. IL now, close to the g-kids

Here's a few shots of the cracked rubber ring which sits inside the double pulley attached to the balancer. Ideally, I'd like to purchase a replacement ring, or I probably glue it together & hope for the best. Also, as several of you said, its probably not necessary to replace, but since its off the engine, why not try to replace/repair?? The dimensions ar posted to my first post. I tried Steele, Metro, Bob's, no luck.
Thanks,
Jerry

philipj,
I went Gateway a week ago Sat. and saw the '37 RM. Most of the items needing attention were already mentioned by others, except the running boards, they were worn. Did not open the hood or look underneath. I'm about 30 minutes from Gateway, I'd go look again on your behalf. Does Gateway have a lift, not sure if they'd let one drive it, esp. with the snow/icy roads. There may be some method to check if the door wood is bad w/o pulling the interior panels off, perhaps someone may suggest a way.
Let me know if I can assist further.

Hi. Auburncoupe,
Thanks for your reply. The balancer is fine. There's a rubber ring that's inside the front of the two belt pulley attached to the balancer that's cracked in two; see my initial post for the dimensions. . That's the item I need.

After removing the pulley/balancer, I noticed that the rubber ring inside the belt pulley is split in two, cracked. (two pulley version, gen. & P.S.)
I checked on line w/ Steele, Metro Moulded, & Bob's, no one lists this part. Dimensions: 5 1/2" o/s diameter, 4 3/4" i/s diameter, 9/16" wide i/s.
A source for this part would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Referring to my inquiry to you forum folks of Jan. 25th about the excessive clearance of the rope seal at the timing cover/crankshaft - I FORGOT that I need to install the pulley/damper on the crank & thru the timing cover & new seal !! I test-fitted the parts and the fit is fine. THANKS to Old Tank for his comment regarding fitting the pulley/damper onto the crank.

Well, I'm back to assembling the engine, after a many month absence. Lifters were inspected by a well known Buick factory engine engineer from the nailhead days. He said they all looked fine, all had even wear, and to re-use them, even though I mixed them up. I cleaned the light scale from the lifter sides, prelubed them w/ assembly lube, & the cam lobes, and dropped them into place. The timing chain & gears show minimal wear, no sludge, so I'm leaving it alone.
Now to my current question:
I've installed a new synthetic rope crankshaft oil seal supplied w/ the chain cover gasket set, tapped the shedder with the seal into the cover, test fitted the cover over the crankshaft, and the clearance between the seal & crankshaft is approx. 1/4" + - . The shop manual says to use a Packing Expander Tool # J 5250-2 to expand the packing into place and size the opening for the crankshaft, ( page 2-27, subpar. B. ) What can I use to expand the seal, since I don't have this tool? Is a similar type tool available??
Thanks for your continuing assistance.

No reverse can be an issue with a part called the Reverse Anchor; it's a fairly common problem w/ dynaflows Not sure what it takes to fix, but I believe it can be repaired w/o removing the trans.

When I replaced the brake lines a few yrs ago, I requested that they ( In-Line) make the long line in two pieces. A LOT easier to slide thru the frame in two pieces, and a bonus: saved some ship. costs as carton was smaller.
