Hey everyone,

I'm just trying to get a feel for what the main styling differences between the 46-48 Buick sedanettes is? I've been looking at countless pictures on google images and its hard to determine lol. Was looking for a convertible but my budget is more in the range of a coupe so may be open to getting one.

1946 have a different grill .it extends into the hood than the 47 or 48 .they have a die cast piece with the Buick crest in it . The crest is  panted on a 47 ,plastic on a 48 . Later grills have a heavy chrome bar with vertical “teeth “Hood ornament on a 46 has no cross bars , these were added after vandals would remove the ring part of it ,adding the crossbars it became the “bombsight” type .                             Instruments were the same on 46 and 47, a copper and cream color also the steering wheel is cream color having spokes at 120 degrees.1948 changed to a black wheel with spokes at 180 and 90 degrees, instruments also change to a black and silver color but remain the same size .                         1948 also has the model on front fenders, Super or Roadmaster.Front Engine mounts were also changed being mounted higher on block . Dynaflow were introduced on the Roadmaster this year. A  Super or Roadmaster Sedanette is a impressive car with the fastback style looks like it moving when standing still also much drier that a convertible.

Forgot to mention that the Special model 40 use the 1941 B body where the Supers model 50 and Roadmaster model 70 use the larger C body. This also may be confusing when looking at cars on internet .Engines are the same on Special and Super but Roadmaster use a larger 320 ,bodies are the same between Super and Roadmaster but hood and front fenders are longer on the Roadmaster due to bigger engine.Mechincal parts are fairly easy to find but body parts hard and also only fit a particular body and model style.Try to find one complete as possible.Good luck. Also forgot to mention Super and Roadmaster have the fender extensions that go back to rear fenders. The Special only go half way into door.Specials were carried over into the 1949 model year that were basically 48 models only made about 5000 of both 2 door and 4 door each . Convertible were not available in the Special at that time.
