Ted L.
I have two steering wheels I can't identify and all help is appreciated. The black wheel may be 20's Ford but friends tell me it doesn't look quite right. The black wheel is 1- The inside diameter of the rear side of the shaft hole is 13/16" 2- Laying wheel on a flat surface, face down, the distance from the front edge of the wheel to the back end of the shaft hole is 3" 3- The width of the splined shaft is 3/4", there is not a keyway 4- The measurements on the rear cone are: base 1 3/16", top 1" and height 1" 5- The wheel's diameter is 17" 5- What is the material used for the exterior ring? The red wheel is 1- The inside diameter of the rear side of the shaft hole is 1 7/16" 2- Laying wheel on a flat surface, face down, the distance from the front edge of the wheel to the back end of the shaft hole is 3 7/16" 3- The width of the splined shaft is 1 3/8", there is not a keyway 4- The measurements on the rear cone are: base 1 3/16", top 1" and height 1" 5- The wheel's diameter is 17 1/2" 5- What is the material used for the exterior ring? Thank you for your help, have a great day, Ted
viv w
Hi, The black steering wheel looks like Ford model A. Early A's had a red steering wheel, but late 28 and 1929 Model A had a black wheel. The other I don't know, but it has such a big shaft size that it must be for a very heavy car or possibly even a truck. Maybe even marine use. Viv. Ted L.
Thanks Viv, I really appreciate the help, thank you. Could the larger shaft wheel be for the older brass period cars? Regardless, have a great day! Ted
