1912 American Lafrance Speedster project.

Recommended Posts

I bought this project a few years ago with good intensions of making a nice early speedster, however I am spending any extra money I have foolishly on other money sucking projects.  It appealed to me as it was already shortened to 128.5" wheelbase.  Can you believe that?  Original wood spoke wheels that I would use the hubs to make new 25" or 27" wheels from.  You have an open palette to design your speedster with the seats right above the drive sprocket, the perfect proportion.

The engine is the early type with Pederson Drip oil system with no sump.   What an interesting engine to look at and it runs very nice, however the carburetor should be serviced/changed.  It does not idle well, but runs smoothly at higher RPM's .  Clutch and transaxle appear to operator correctly.  Purchased from the basement of the Peterson Museum a few years back.

A few more photos on my website with a full photoshoot and video work coming soon.  Located in Smithfield, RI and asking $39,500.
