keiser31
A buddy of mine was looking at a 1937 Studebaker coupe for sale and was curious about a crank hole cover. Do they have an actual cover that comes off of the grille to reveal a crank hole? He seems to think there is no way to hand crank the engine so I just had to ask. Thanks in advance.John
Guest 37Dictator
John The 1937 Dictator did not have a crank hole cover ..electric start was reliable enough by 1937 they were not needed. if you had to start the motor manually you got a couple of friends or another other car and pushed the car and popped the clutch in 2nd gear. keiser31
Thanks so much for the Studebaker lesson. I was under the impression that most cars still had some sort of hand-cranking capability in 1937. Good to know.
starlightcoupe
I believe the larger trucks still did, as they were a little harder to push start.
