1967 Lincoln Continental convertible

Recommended Posts

Too many cars, too little storage, all the regular reasons for selling a car.....This 1967 Lincoln Continental convertible was a pet project for a gentleman for 25 years, he started with an excellent car and over the years did this and that to it, until he passed on and I acquired the car.

Sitting and not being driven didn't help the car, and after I bought it had to have heads removed, replacing push rods and rebuilding valves. While in the engine compartment cleaned up things, had radiator and heater core repaired as needed, and so forth, to the tune of about $3000 worth of work. Shop didn't have air cleaner so top of it in picture is dirty, forgot about that. New tires, new exhaust, gas tank cleaned and coated with rebuilt correct 3 port fuel pump, and now the car runs and drives very nicely.

Body is very straight, he painted it and appears never to have been buffed out, a couple of small dings from storage but overall paint is very nice. I cannot find any rust on the body of this car, it's clean inside and out. Interior was redone, he did it to original pattern but in vinyl and fabric. Not as nice as leather, but cooler during the summer!

Top bows all cleaned and painted, have original glass rear window for top, at this point there is no top on car. He had never hooked up pistons on deck lid, I did so and purged air from pumps, now deck lid, locks, and top mechanism all go up and down fine by putting power directly to them. I've had deck lid switch rebuilt, and believe all relays would work, but right now do not have full automatic sequence. This car was worked on in the '80's by John Cashman (famous in Lincoln circles for fixing electrics), he signed inside doors, and all windows work perfectly (I did have all window switches rebuilt professionally). Interior of trunk very clean, have a couple of new weather strips not installed.

Not a perfect car, but would make a wonderful driver as is, or do a little more work to make super nice. I believe my price is very fair, and is in fact very close to what I have in it, so not really negotiable. The last year of the four door convertible, heaviest car Lincoln built (after about 1938) at 5600 pounds, and appreciating lately in value. If you want to haggle over price, then add $1000 to my price below, and then I'll consider taking some of it off!

Haven't done anything on AC, everything there but not charged. A small drip from transmission, that too from storage, probably a seal dried up. Picture of front door shows threshold missing, have it though.

Pictures show car as it was removed from storage, the front quarter and rear quarter shots. Other shots as it is now.

Car located in Winchester, Virginia. Price is $14,500. David.Coco@Comcast.net , 540-5332885

WOW !! Beautiful car with tons of potential, and a very fair price.

There is a similar one, restored on Hemmings.com for $59,900
