Jim Anselmo
Can anyone tell me if the rings for a 1953 (239 6-cylinder) will fit pistons for a 1948 6-cylinder. They say that they are for a 3-9/16 diameter piston which I believe is the same as the 48 piston. This is the description of the rings -

[h=1]Details about 1953-1966 Pontiac 194,239 3&9/16 bore + .040 chrome piston rings[/h]Thanks,Jim
PONTIAC1953
my 1954 pontiac master parts catalog says no, 53-54 pontiac six cylinder rings are different than 41-52. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
PONTIAC1953
checking some more, your rings have a thickness of 3/32", 53-54 rings are 5/64", same diameter though. maybe you could use a 1/32" ring with the 53-54 rings to make up 3/32".
