36 D2 Coupe Posted January 14, 2013 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Checking a 1934 Parts List, under Engine Group 9 Notes (PE is '34 plymouth)Group 9A - POWER PLANT, ENGINE ASSEMBLYNOTE: The following symbols are used in connection with engine numbers.Engine numbers wthout symbols indicate "STANDARD CYLINDERS and CRANKSHAFT BEARINGS."The letter "A" immediately following the engine number indicates "BORE .020" (.508 mm) Larger than Standard.".The letter "B" immediately following the engine number indicates "MAIN and CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS .010" (.254 mm) Smaller than standard."The letters "AB" immediately following the engine number indicate "CYLINDER BORE .020" (.508 mm) Larger than standard." the "MAIN and CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS .010" (.254 mm) Smaller than standard."The letters in the circular pads at either end of the engine number pad are for the use of factory inspectors only and should not be connected with the engine number.These notes were a guide to remanufactured blocks or engine assemblies pulled off the line for quality issues and installed in new cars after having bores and/or cranks resized.
