stealthbob
Will a crankshaft from a '56 322 fit my '54 and it's '54 Dynaflow transmission?I have been told by a trusted guy who knows his 56 Buick's that it won't mate well with the 54 Dynaflow but wanted to ask just in case as I have a possible deal lined up and I need a crank for my 54. Thanks
MrEarl
I've always thought the cranks were the same in all 322's and 264's for that matter with exception of engines that received 3 speeds. A Dynaflow crank can be fitted with an adapter bushing to allow it to be used on a 3 speed. I think the crank you're looking to buy is a Dynaflow isn't it. Should fit...here's what the parts book saysbut please confirm this with someone else though!C.T. = Conventional transmission IE 3 speed Edited September 29, 2009 by MrEarl (see edit history)
Guest kaycee
My Buick parts manual lists the crankshaft as: '53-'56 all V8 40,50, and 60 series as part #1318491--note:on'54-'56C.T.(Standard transmission), use one #1161771 brg.&adapter. cl.gr.pilot. The '56 crankshaft should work. If it comes out of a stickshift, you'll just have to remove the adapter and pilot bearing from the rear hub of the crank. to work with the Dynaflow. kaycee
