SeniorSix
Hi: Can anyone tell me the correct oil capacity of a 1929 Dodge Brothers Senior Six engine. The pan holds 10 quarts but seems like to many to me?Thanks
Paul Bohlig
It is 6 quarts. Could be more if you use a Fram type oil filter. These used a partial roll of toilet paper in a metal case as an after market filter.I have a '28 Std Six but the same basic engine. The engine has a dipstick on the passenger side showing oil level. I keep mine on the top line. I could measure the dip stick if yours is missing and let you know. You could make a temporary one out of a piece of rod and flaten one end.Paul
Paul Bohlig
Good grief; the dipstick is of course on the drivers side. My error. I measured mine and the top fill line is right as 6 inches from the top outside of the engine. Try a long wooden stick match as in fireplace lighting and make a mark at the top and then down 6 inches and fill to line.Paul
