Steel or Alloy conrods

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Work is progreesing on the engine rebuild on the 25 tourer. I have 3 sets of conrods, 2 steel and 1 alloy.Steel is A-3378, Alloy is Lynite A-15542. With my rough garage scales, the steel ones are 2 lbs, and the alloy is 1 lb. Assuming I can knock out the bearing caps and change them over, which rods are best?

Cheers

Hi guys,

I need to press out the bronze bushes from the little ends of the con rods. Has anybody had experience with the Dodge rods? I was thinking I would machine up a brass drift the right size to slide in and sit snugly over the end of the bush, so that I could drive it out. Any suggestions? Heat first?

Cheers

Marty
