Source for plating 39 LZ Emblem

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a chrome plater for the Lincoln Zephyr emblem that goes on the hood sides on 39 Lincoln Zephyrs. That emblem is pot metal with a red plastic insert. I have the emblems, but they need to be re-chromed.

Hello Brian -

Are you're talking about the enameled emblems on either side of the hood? If the enameled glass part is good (no cracks, hazing, etc.), then I suppose you could have someone chrome the back and edges. As I understand it, the chroming was the last step done when the emblems were created since the enameling process would have melted the chrome.

There aren't many folks that do emblem restoration, and it's an expensive process with a long, LONG lead time.
