1950 Oldsmobile w/8 Volt Battery Need resistor to install radio

I have a 1950 Oldsmobile with a 8-Volt Batttery, I have just purchased an original refurbished Olds Radio (6 volt) will this work with the battery or do I need to locate a resistor to lower the voltage from 8 volts to 6 volts .... I remember a product call "VOLTADROP" that let you drop voltage from 12 to 6 or from 8 to 6 but cannot locate one .... any help out ther?
