1967 Cad 429 engine problem

I have a recently gone through 429 that has light lifter noise. When it went together, I was concerned about the lack of depth into the working range of the lifter the push rods were at. Seemed like they only pushed the lifter cup down about 1/4 of the way... Should have been closer to 50% or so.. Anyway, the engine has low speed valve rocker/lifter noise.. Sounds like it has a solid lifter cam from back in the 60's hot rod days.

Oil pressure is 40 psi at idle. All push rods are new. All rockers have very good ball seats. All are getting very good oil flow up through the push rods.

Engine runs GREAT above idle, LOTS of power. BUT rattles AND has the shakes at idle. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
