Nuts & bolts

When restoring vehicles I have always been concerned about replacing broken and worn nuts & bolts with those as close to OEM as possible. Most older cars use unplated fasteners and some with square heads. A couple of questions arise: 1) for competition, how important is it to have the proper fastener (finish & configuration)?; 2) Are there any good sources for replacement nuts & bolts? I personally want to restore to as close to original as possible. Right now I am working on a '22 Maxwell.

Hello,

I had purchased high head hex bolts from C. Cook enterprises; they

are made with a rolled thread and are unplated and heat treated.

A little pricey, but saves the hassle of machining them from

hex stock..
