Well, last week my wife bought me a 1952 200 Deluxe Touring sedan she saw for sale by where she works. She knows I love these cars. So, I drove it home, and started looking at all the things that need doing. The engine is in pretty good shape. Carb sags bad initially, but does well after the car's had time to warm up.

I found out that the tank has a leak when I filled it up. Must be somewhere around where the filler tube connects to the tank. I'll find a local who can take care of that. The wiring is badly frayed and has lots of splices. I'll take care of those easily enough.

BUT.... I took it down the street to the local Les Schwab tire center to get some radials put on until I get everything else done and finish it off with wide whitewall radials. When I got there, they popped off the hubcaps. UH-OH! The right front only had 4 lug bolts on it. The left front only had 3 lug bolts on it. And BOTH rear wheels only had TWO lug bolts on them. It's a wonder the wheels didn't come off when I was driving it home! I know I was doing almost 60 mph a couple of times.

None of the local places have a lug bolt the proper size. One place said they can order it, but it'll take at least a week and a half. So, I had to pay for a flat bed tow back home.

So, who can direct me to the best place to mail order a new set of lug bolts for a '52 200, and won't take too long to get here?

Mark

Packard uses hub-centric support, not bolt-centric support. So, unless you were experiencing significant tenths of Gs cornering force, you were probably OK with as few as 2 lug bolts. But you were also correct in just flatbedding it home once you knew about it. Better safe than sorry.
