Andy89
[color:"red"] Has anyone ever removed the tape deck from either a 88 or 89 Buick Reatta? I could use some instruction as I am slightly "Mechanically challenged".If you can help, email me at barbandy@sbcglobal.netThanks
Vincent Vega
Very easy. Carefully pry metal/plastic cover from in front of tape deck. Be sure and get behind the plastic, not just the metal. This will expose the four screws that hold it in. Remove screws, pull forward and disconnect harness. Done. Reatta.net has a great tape deck repair article in the faq section. Andy89
Thanks for the inbfo. I tried "experimenting" after I posted the question and figured out how to remove it. I followed your recommendation re website and downloaded the repair manual, although I don't think I will attempt same! Thanks again.
Ames63
Hey F14CRAZY2 Can you publish directions on installing a computer in the cassette deck area?
Guest F14CRAZY
Search for a thread titled "The GPS Thread." It's pretty straight forward to do, but you need a computer or laptop to run the system and most likely an inverter to run it. LCD's are cheap on ebay. The one I have is a 6.5''
0ddi0
ebay has a Carputer with a 1Ghz CPU, 256MB RAM, 40GB Hard drive and a 7" touch screen lcd....they're pretty cheap, about $400. They install like an aftermarket stereo and I'll be installing one in the next month or so. I'm also looking into satellite internet service so I can surf and download while I'm out <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
Guest F14CRAZY
Satellite internet would be cool but cost prohibitive. Dunno how a dish could work on a car (though i know there are solutions for cars, but for TV signals, maybe they're the same). Internet through a phone like a Palm Treo would be cool, and awesome if you're in an area with Verizon's EVDO network (Broadband Access).besides, why buy something prebuilt? It's not the F14 way. Projects must be complex and ellaborate
Guest inthespot
I know several people who get their internet service by using those in the apartments around them, or parking in an area where the cafe or bar has a server and they just set in the parking lot and log on. Do not know the range but one guy uses his neighbors across the street from him. He gets it all over his house except the back yard. Don't guess you could drive down the road but in the right areas it might work.
