It was and is up to the buyer to install whatever he wanted/wants on the rear for the job he's going to use it for. Many had flat beds installed for the farm and in your case a dump box. Unless you know different I would believe this is how the truck has spent it's life. If you don't want the dump box then the other most common use was a stake sided flat bed. The bed was made of hard wood with a steel edge to it and 2X4 uprights with 1X4 slats across the uprights. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It has the stake box set up on the 2 in the photo. The only pickups (Express) I've seen are on the 1/2 ton KC and long wheelbase KCLs. What's the measurement of your wheelbase ,hub to hub?
