clutch

'53 Windsor

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have a 1953 Chrysler Windsor DeLuxe with a semi-auto transmission. Last summer, I took apart the clutch, and removed the tranny to fix some seals. When I put everything back together, I could not find a place for a little U-shaped clip on the torque shaft. Everything worked fine for a while, but then the torque shaft slipped off its bearings and blocked the shift linkage. I got under and slipped it back on, but it just keeps coming off. Also, the lift spring is missing from the rear end of the clutch fork push rod. Could this be part of the problem. Also, what is the correct setting for the push rod and overcenter spring?

Thanks for any help,

Tom
