Guest Albert
I was searching around today for sandblasting supplys and i ran across this place, I'am always leary of blasting anyting with moving parts for the fear of leaving just one grain of sand behind, this system you could blast the inside of an engine block and not have to worry. It used dry ice as a blast media instead of sand or walnuts. http://www.rsg-technologies.com/index.htm I just wonder what a system cost though? Guest imported_Speedster
Of course the main problem with that system is that you sure wouldn't be able to take a lunch-brake, after dumping in your CO2.
WCraigH
Albert,That is one (pun intended) blaster! Any idea on cost? Their website says "inquire". Also, my Craftsman 6HP compressor is only rated at 12CFM continuous whereas the "E" (economy) blaster requires 100CFM min. Of course, I have to wait for my compressor to catch up with most air tools, but on the other hand, usually nothing is evaporating while I'm waiting!

Guest pepperita
When it comes to sand blasting, I rely on one company and have been loyal to the same products. So far, my vehicle has remained in tip-top shape despite the years.
Guest bkazmer
dry ice blasting has been around for some time in cleaning molds for injection molding. It is not really an alternate to sandblasting to remove corroded metal. It's used to remove waxy build-up on molds , which it does very well by cooling the wax to a temperature at which it is brittle. The advantage is that you don't remove metal. Guest 1hooligan
Dont use media blast material, use baking soda, you can aquire it from any media supply firm. Just use h20 to desolve the soda when done. works wonders.
Joe Block
sand blasting is also bad for sheet metal, ask me how I learned that.
Guest deathrodder
the baking soda the best one it removes the rust and paint and saves the medal it worked great wen we did it to my rx7 ( doesnt have much sheet metal to start wit in the first place) just never reuse it unless you shift it first
Guest Albert
i find the soda is great for doing small parts like carbs, cleans them up like new,, for frames i like using 40grit Black beauty and run max pressure,, body i drop it dow to 50lbs, and reduce the volume of sand..
