ElkGroveGuy Posted June 16, 2005 Share Posted June 16, 2005 I just purchased this 56 and I had a few questions, hopefully someone can help me out. 1# Are 56 chevy suspension upgrades compatible with this car. Also the trunk hinges on mine are cracked, do you know if I can also get those from a similar year GM model. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. JohnD1956 Posted June 17, 2005 Share Posted June 17, 2005 Hey E.G.G. Welcome to the board and welcome to 56 Buicks. I have a 56 Super as well. I don't believe you'll find Chevy Parts an easy fit. The Super and Roadmaster are physically bigger cars than the Chevies. Also the rear suspension on the Buick is a torque Ball and Torque tube drive. This means there are no rear trailing arms from the frame to the rear axle. there is not a factory spot to convert to either.While more modern suspensions have been put under these and other torque tube cars, I would think it is quite a bit of work and involves changing the rear end, drive shaft/ torque tube and the transmission as well along with it's mounts.Good luck.
