joe kastellic
I picked a hood ornament at Perrysburg for my 56 Clipper, the two rear studs are missing, they are about a no. 10 screw size. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to repair a potmetal emblem? Are there any good epoxy's that are made for pot metal? Are there any way to braze or weld studs on to the emblem? thanks Joe <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Guest imported_Speedster
I have noticed that some '55-'56 Clipper Ornaments were not made with rear studs, I think it was the first '55s that didn't have them. I would think it would stay in place pretty good without them, just using front bolt. JB-Weld may hold some screws, with heads cut off, in place, as long as you don't tighten the nuts very tight. The rear studs on the one I have on my '56 now, are smaller than #10, I think they are about #6, with Tennerman type nuts. Although I have seen one with larger sized studs. So there must be several different designs with slight differences. JB-Kwik-Weld can also be used to repair pot-metal, that is to be rechromed. As long as the pits are very clean and it has to be filed and sanded very smooth before plating.
