Guest jimstulga
Hi,Drove my '30 CJ coupe to a WPC meet at expressway speed for the first time since owning the car (55-60mph) on 4/17. Checked out the underside of the car today. I have a front & rear canvas or leather type cover at each end of the drive shaft. The rear one was split. I removed both covers and my drive shaft has play of an inch or more when I hold the shaft and move it from front to back. Is this normal? If not, what next? HarryJ
jimstulga....The ball & trunnion type of universal joint used by Chrysler in these years should have some play front to back: however, I would tear down and rebuild your units for good measure. They are simple, so this process should be easy. Canvas or leather covers were used as dust covers throughout their history.

Guest jimstulga
Thanks VM. I tried to email you directly, but the letter came back. I'm interested in the rebuild parts for my '30 CJ Universal if you have them. Thanks.
