Since so many people in AACA have RVs I thought I should post this photo of our RV and a problem it has developed over the winter. And this problem is not exclusive to Winnebagos.

It is a problem with the "gel coat" siding that is on Winnebagos and some other brands. The siding is defective from the vendor that supplied it. It looks like a deranged woodpecker on drugs has attacked it. No one has figured out just why this is happening. "Repairing" it does not work. We had that done and it is falling off. Replacement of the walls with the new style walls, the outside is thick fiberglass not gel coat, is the only cure for this.

We saw a 1999 35' Winnebago "Adventurer" that is worse with this than our 2002 '35 "Adventurer". Winnebago is replacing the sides on that one and has replaced them on an even older one. We are currently talking to them about replacing the sides on ours this fall. It requires about 200 hours to fix because they have to removed everything from the inside, wall by wall, and then take the sides off. The inside walls and outside walls are all one piece.

So if you have an RV with this problem,or know someone who does, we finally tracked down what the problem is and how it has to be fixed. The two that Winnebago has and is currently doing were out of warranty but they are fixing them anyway.
