Pair of old bumpers --interesting, interested?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, I am not a collector, restorer or such, but I registered to post the following:

I live in Costa Rica. Last Saturday, I was a the only local flea market and saw one of the tents being weighted down with two matching bumpers, obviously of great vintage! I was born in a '28 Ford coupe so I would guess that these two bumpers, almost a matching pair (altho they could be two front bumpers!), are from the "mid '20's" due to their size and construction. There is not a badge on either of them but there are the "badge-like" couplers holding three spring steel appearing strips together, three badges (I think) on each bumper. They consist of three identical parallel strips, each strip is flat on the back but on the front side have sort of a rounded low profile as you would imagine the letter "B" but with three bumps instead of two (as if they were rolled from leaf spring material). Each have two arcs on the rear side that would mount to the car/light truck frame horns but curiously, have no drilled holes, so they were probable fixed to the vehicle with some sort of clamps. The ends of the three strips are rolled around a pin about 1/2" diameter with rounded heads top and bottom. The shape is very slightly curved at the outer ends with the midsection very straight. The three (I think) badges that connect the three pieces together (together with the end pins) are a long oval with a round head bolt in the center and nut on the back side. The oval badges have a rounded "scooped out" low profile groove about 3/4 inch wide running vertically down the center of each. They are currently painted light brown with latex paint, so it is hard to determine the finish under that. They appear to be in good condition with no obvious pitting.

Now, my question is: Are they of sufficient interest to go back and take pictures of them and post them here? The owner says they are Ford Model A but he doesn't know jack. But he is willing to sell them..... Any comments? Thanks.
