Gaylord
I am trying to replace my 324 4 barrel carb with a 650 edelbrock. Could anyone tell me what base plate adaptor I need to make it fit my intake. I tried several but they didn't match up.
InMyMerryOLDSMOBILE
Trans Dapt makes the adapter part number 2064. I think Summit sells it.Good Luck.
Gaylord
Thank you, I'll check it out.I didn't know weather to rebuild my original or to replace it. Thanks again Gaylord
heidigirl
the edelbrock is designed to use a pull cable and the oldsmobile has push rod linkage. if your intention is to retain the stock linkage, i would be very much interested in learning how you will retain the kickdown feature. ogster
I can't really imagine why you would want to. Deviating from original will do nothing but create problem for you and successive owners of the car down the road. Unless you are building a totally custom car and have performance issues I would stay with stock. the carb linkage will have to re-engineered, the mounting, fuel line, etc. And, the stock air cleaner won't fit. I would rebuild or replace the original Rodchester 4GC.Just my two cents
heidigirl
the air cleaner, mounting, and the fuel line are very small issues to overcome. i have installed an edelbrock 600 on my 324 and i am satisfied with the results--to a point. the kickdown feature remains mia and i'm looking for a solution without resorting to changing out the linkage from the pedal forward. so, my question is more than academic. i would appreciate your input.
