Sorry, but I only see One floor switch? The object in center of picture appears to be the head of a bolt showing thru hole in floor mat ??? <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

(With another bolt a few inches down and to the left)

I would look under car and find out what is held on by those 2 bolts. Because they will damage a new floor mat. May want to change to flatter headed type bolts.

You could install that on the Packard wonderbar also, but it was never in accessory booklet that I know of.

It is definately a toggle of some kind. It moves in and out. Once I get the radio repair then I can test that idea.

I have zero dash lights. I wonder if it could be related to that???

Maybe one weekend when you get your car out of storage we take a look at some of the problems and issues, also check if you have more than 2 wires going to the radio, power & ant, could be the wonderbar for the radio, but that is here the clutch pedal whould have been, May be the starter switch since the one on the carb was broken. But not Packard Standard wireing.

Thanks Albert! Sounds good. I intend on taking it out after the Easter weekend in April.

If i'd know the weather would be good still i'd have waiting another week.

Will try and extract the radio at Christmas when I go up to my parents place.

I had a 57 Olds 98 that had the Wonderbar radio to seek to the next channel too but the switch was rather close to the dimmer switch and of the same size. Perhaps that little switch in the pic is connected to the headlights to be used as a newer car's flash function with the blinker stalk. If it isn't that would be a good idea....

Was just watching a TV program and it had a '37 Ford on it. The switch on the floor was a starter. They turned the key and then pushed the floor button.

Is this the "Stomp-and-start" you were describing to me?

The Packard "Stomp-and-start" operates off the gas pedal, thats what the switch on the carb is for, but it looked like maybe yours the original owned may have had a problem with it and put that in instead.

Albert is correct: the Packard stomp n' start is a small switch on the carb, actuated by the throttle linkage, that sends power to the pull-in coil of the starter solenoid. The '37 Ford has a round "plunger" type pedal (bigger in dia. than a dimmer switch) that when depressed, physically engages the heavy contact points for the starter motor. Your foot (and leg) are the "solenoid". Old Henry liked em' simple. Billy Bob and Cooter still do. John
