DB engine numbers

I have been asked about two DB engines, C345-842 and C893-069 , both are 4 cylinder, two-unit 6 volt. When did the "A" prefix change to "C" and what date are these engines ?

The 'two unit' 6v change was implimented early March '26. These engines actually were identified by a "B" replacing the "A". Later when the 5 main cranks were introduced the "B" was replaced by a "C". Given the engine numbers have been roughly 50,000 higher than the car serial numbers the one identified as C-345-842 most probably was C-845-***and would be around Oct '26. The later one C-893-069 was from Jan '27. Both these engines would be classified as '27s.
