First time posting, bear with me- 73 cutlass for sale

Recommended Posts

Hello hello-

I'm trying to find an adoptive home for my '73 olds cutlass supreme collonade hard top. It was my grandmother's car and has been my daily driver for over a year. The car has been living in the desert and in mountain states all its life, so there are no rusty cancers on the body or undercarriage.

Original Rocket 350 V8 still runs very strong, automatic tranny recently serviced, lots of recent service on what tends to wear out on old cars, including a new master break cylinder, new distributer, heater hose, radiator fluid reservoir, starter, and lots of new wiring.

AC runs cold and strong, power windows and locks (makes for those trademark heavy doors) still work great. The car could use some belts, hoses and a new pair of motor mounts. It runs great, though, so these are those "when you get to it" kind of projects. Good for someone who needs a daily driver but also something to tweak on the weekends.

The drivers' side window is a little wonky and sometimes falls off the track. There are some small rips on the drivers' side seat, in the seams, otherwise the interior is pristine black vinyl. Body color is metallic beigy gold (GM calls it pewter).

Why am I selling? I can barely afford to gas it up and I want a more efficient convertible instead. The car is in great shape and has only 83K original miles. I'm asking $3700. (NADA says it's worth about $4700)

The car is located in Longmont, CO, about 30 miles north of Denver. I have plenty more pics to share upon emailed request.

Questions? Email me at rocket350v8@yahoo.com. Thanks for putting up with a newbie!

needmorempg...first, Welcome to the AACA Forum.

Hopefully, you will find a buyer here. As for being a "newbie", you did fine.

My natural instincts force me to ask the following question: "Despite your current disdain for the '73's gas mileage and unless you need the bucks, would you consider making a hobby of the car?"

If so, keep it, get involved with the hobby, become a regular on this AACA Forum, and, possibly, in time, the cost of gas today would be a moot point. If you opt use it for cruising at leisure, tours, and, old iron events, it is a lot of fun.

Before you make a decision, please scroll around this forum and the AACA's mission statement to see what retaining an obvious nice driver could become in the form of a hobby.

Thanks for the advice, Peter-

I unfortunately do not have the time nor resources to make a hobby of the car, which is why I have posted here. I am hoping it will find an owner that can afford to give it the TLC and the love it deserves. I do realize that restoration, shows, etc. can be a great time, and perhaps in the future I will take it up for myself. For the time being, however, I just need a speedy, smaller, more efficient machine that can get me where I need to be.

So hopefully, someone who loves old cars the way the folks here seem to will see its potential as a hobby of their own smile.gif

Just checking to see if you still have this car. I'm the one person who would love it. That was my first car and I don't care what the emissions regulations were on it. I LOVE 73s and would be thrilled to own it. Do you still have it?

Thanks and feel free to email me at madis-daddy@charter.net
