Well Duke Jr.(CHRIS 55 PAT) is now home with all mechanical functions working well. This AM I start 4 hours each morning on the weekends(after that it's too bloody hot to work outside) of re-assembly. It should go well after all I have my 55 Pat to use as a guide.I try to keep you all posted as to progress with pictures of course.

AlK: Bring your car up north to assemble it . I will rent you my garage which has an air conditioned work shop. While working in my shop you can listen to the old sound system that I have installed or watch tv, and stay cool while doing the assembly work.

Baeutiful car, Al! Duke Jr. will be a marvelous addition to the classics (note small non-registered 'c' thus denoting a general use of the term rather than the accepted formal use of the term in this venue.) on the road! Bravo! And congratulations. I wish there were more Packards in my area. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Al,

Duke Junior is a gem. This is a nice car. One question, are you going to leave the side panel orange/red on the doors and over the front wheel opening ? I think that that would look so cool. Its to bad that Packard didn't come up with this kind of a scheme for a 300/Cavalier line in 1955 instead of dropping it. Its an exercise in what might or could have been. Just like Craig's '56 Panther.

  • 3 weeks later...

Progress is slow. I found out that i should have taken better notes in the dismantling process, but I also should have read the notes I did take. I did not lose any parts like I first thought, they were no good when I took them off. I noted this at the time and should have started procurring parts long before now. However thank God for Mike Dulinski who has come thru with a treasure trove of stuff for me. I am waiting for a package now for the pieces I need to finish up the side

trim and to start on the front end. I will have RO post a photo when I send it to him tomorrow.

Indeed, Mike was my source for a new ignition switch bezel and dozens of molding clips as well as the power steering pulley for the '56 Custom, which even I have almost forgotten about it's been at the body and paint shop since April 23, but there was a rumor last week it could possibly be ready by the end of this next week.....yeah, right. I have parts all over the place too Al, and cannot remember what goes where with what....I took plenty of notes, but now don't know what they mean. I'll get the phots posted when you send 'em/
