Well i disconnected my filter the other day i took a long drive to Conn. this weekend for a car show i live in NJ so it was about 170 miles up and round total was close to 400 miles and i had no lifter noise at all and i was doing speeds anywhere from 5 to 75-80 alot of stop ang go traffic rad temps went up to alomost 240 once or twice ,oil pressure all the way up was 40 psi stop and go was anywhere from 20 psi to 15 psi at its hottest point..so what did the filter disconnect do i tried eveything before, i did this and i always had some noise now none I guess this is good right?????? <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Yeah i know 240 is up there but no problems with the trans so far....I think maybe something might be wrong with my filter canister but it didnt make a peep all the way up and all the way back like i said 40 psi too...I guess i will have to leave it for now and just change the oil more regular and im going to put a magnetic drain plug in too...Oh yeah i had the electric fan on and it almost got up too 240 that was also almost 90 degree's out and almost stopped traffic too... So i guess im going to look for a custom rad for ir this year to keep it cooler, anyone know where to get one?

I've been in 115F in stop & go in Las Vegas with my 1955 Pat and its stock radiator without getting anywhere near 240F. I'd say, get yours cored out. You also need an electric fuel pump and an external tube-style tranny cooler if you're going to drive it in those conditions.

Yeah i know i need a better trans cooler but to be honest with you i want to do the 727 trans swap for the 3 speed and the reliablity of the chrysler trans you think mine car was running hot my friends 51 merc was at 255..and my friends 29 model A hotrod died because the coil over heated and he has no hood or fenders we cooled it off with some water and ice she started right back up. My car never skipped a beat, once i got moving the temp went right down to 180 which i think is normal for these cars right????

I'm investigating another way to do a trans swap. I'll keep you guys updated over the next several months.
