Guest
I finally finished my conversion from 260 to 455 and was wondering, I have a chiltons manual for a 1970 olds 98 (the engine donor) but it just says to see under the hood for timing spec...so thats not going to work, does anyone know what the timing sould be set on a 1970 olds 98 455 4bbl? If So it would be greatly appreciated I forgot to add that I added the HEI from the 260 that was in it and a mild cam. if that helps
dadphelps
My motor manual calls for most engines(it lists 8 different 455's) to be 8 degrees at 850rpm. The others call for 12 degrees. Vista cruiser is 10 degrees. My bet is 8.
64olds442
did you change the advance springs in distributor, if not get a set and install the middle set of springs, then using an retard style timing light, bring engine rpm to 3000 rpm and set distributor to full adavance at 36 degrees timing...only way to do them correctly for performance
