Guest
Can anybody help me figure out how I can change the gear-ratio on my 1965 Skylark? I have a 10 bolt with an 8.2 with a 278 gear. I would like to go to a 355 or 373 and use my existing rear-end housing. Do I have to change the carrier? What are my options...Thanks for your help,Gary

Turbo Loyd
[color:\\"blue\\"]George Nenadovich has put together a lot of information on Buick A-body differentials at:http://pw2.netcom.com/%7Egnenad/axles.htmlFor that large a change in gear ratios you will need to change the carrier style (you will need to change anyway from an open to posi unit. Be sure to specify the gear ratio you want to use. One source for the carrier is:http://www.gearsareus.com/GearsAreUs/Gearstuff/posi.htmThey also have the gear sets though expensive.I would use the Eaton and avoid the Auburn Gear cone style carrier since they are not rebuildable.
