Does he need all 1957 parts or could he use also 1958 parts ?Thanks for your answers and help.Kind regardsTom
Pete Phillips
1957 and 1958 Buick power brake sytems and components are the same. I don't know about interchangeability with '57 Olds. You would need a master cylinder and booster, and the vacuum reserve tank, as well as a vacuum connection to the intake manifold or carburetor.Pete PhillipsBCA #7338
ThomasBorchers
Hi Pete,do he need also a different brake pedal system ? I needed it at my 1955 Buick as I converted it to manual brake.Thanks.Tom
Pete Phillips
Thomas,No, you should not need different pedal linkage, provided the longer shaft is included with the vacuum booster. They (manual brakes and power brakes) are both mounted in exactly the same place in '57. That is not the case with the '55s. Their master cylinders are mounted in different places, depending on whether they are power brakes or manual brakes.Pete Phillips
