Where are the "Bobtail" 1939 Buicks

If you have a 1939 "Bobtail" Buick or know of someone that has please let me

know. I'm trying to find out how many "Bobtail's" remain in service.

If you send the serial number, model and condition (0 being unusable and 10

being showroom new) along with your e-mail address I'll let you know how many

I've found. If you would just like to know how many I've found send your e-mail address and I'll let you know.

Thanks for your help in this data call.

Sincerely,

John

GSTURBO,

Thank you for your reply, maybe you have one? A Bobtail Buick was made

in 1939 (I think between Aug. 1938 and Feb. 1939). What it amounts to

is a cost cutter on the frame. Buick thought they could save some money

by making a 3/4 frame which stopped at just about the center of the rear

wheel. It turned out to be a mistake and they went to full frame

production in Feb. 1939.

Regards,

John

Check with a gentleman further down in this site,he is looking for one of the factory "fix" kits for a 39. Regarding a bulletin, there have been things called "Silent Recall", that's where "fixes"are taken care of on an individual basis. I remember the kits,as I worked in a Buick dealership when 39's were atill near-new cars
