Rebuilt electronic parts

It sort of bugs me when I see people paying way too much for reconditioned electronic parts. Granted it takes labor and time to diagnose an electronic problem and repair it but most of the time a person can buy a used item for a lot less. Rebuilt, reconditioned, refurbished means, in the case of an electronic part, that the part was not working, was sent to a repair facility, the one bad part was fixed, the unit cleaned and sent back out. What you are buying when you buy a rebuilt electronic part is a USED part. This in not the case on mechanical parts where all the worn moving parts and bearings are replaced and then it is like new.

I would aways suggest when looking for an electronic part to first try salvage yards or people parting out particular cars and most of the time you will get just as good of a part at a lot less cost. Example, there are plenty of good used '90-91 IPCs around and you should never have to pay more than $ 150.

P.S. I am all out of '90-91 IPCs but they are available in most salvage yards.
