I just aquired a 1949 Hudson Commodore. The clutch chatters and I am thinking since it has a wet clutch, it probably needs fluid or fluid changed. The original shop manual says use hudson clutch fluid. Does anyone know what this fluid would corrospond to in whats available today? Could use your help.

I drove a 49 Hudson for a number of years and I used automatic transmission fluid in it. I also used it in my 1920 Hudson. I had to re cork the disks in the 20 when I first got it. I had to make a cork socker to insert the cork stoppers, let them swell in oil, beat them a little with a hammer to mushroom them, spun the disks in the lathe and sanded the turning disk with a disk sander. I think there is still a couple doors that would have the internal parts in them. Maybe a leaf spring of two.

Good luck with the Hud. Curt
