The value of a 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire can vary depending on its condition. According to J.D. Power, the 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire 2 Door Hardtop has the following prices based on condition:

• Low retail: $12,400

• Average retail: $29,100

  The 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire has a 394 cid V8 engine that produces 345 horsepower and 440 ft lbs of torque. 

   

  This might be a good opportunity to buy well below "book" value in more ways than one. Not only does the price seem reasonable (low), the area in which it is for sale is rather isolated and not economically prosperous. It's about an hour north of Spokane Wa. on mostly country roads (a beautiful drive, by the way). I doubt if there will be any local interest in the car even at $8k. As of the  2010 census, there were 285 people, 105 households, and 75 families living in the town

  The median income for a household in the town was $28,333, and the median income for a family was $27,188. Males had a median income of $31,875 versus $16,563 for females. The per capita income for the town was $10,412. It does appear to need a little work on the exterior and interior, but if it drives well and the rust is at a minimum, it sure seems like a good deal to me. GLWTS
