All the plugs I can see on the engine look good but it definitely makes sense to check that one while the intake manifold is off My expansion plug was rusted/rotted away with black exhaust residue where it was leaking (like a bad exhaust leak) Group #3.265 Plug Expansion, intake manifold core hole part #1189802 I used Dorman #550-031 Concave expansion plug (2 1/4") O'Reillys auto parts had to order to store took 1 day to get $1.09 No I have not experienced that, on your description of your problem Maybe you will see something after you take yours apart for inspection and cleaning.
