I went back and looked at your original post when you bought the car. The compressor on your car is not the original Bishop & Babcock, so you might have a better one because it looks like it has a clutch on it. Has your car been converted to 12-volts? Or is it an early Frigidaire 6-volt? 

It's a 70s era Ford compressor. It has been modified with a 6 volt clutch.

The compressor clutch engages when the "Cooling" switch is turned on.
