Twisted Shifter
https://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/d/spokane-1949-kenworth-general-fire/7764664317.html Originally Engine 3 of the Spokane Fire Department, now available to collectors or aficionados alike 1949, Kenworth chassis and some body parts, but customized into a fire apparatus by General. Coach work well done, and the body is in remarkable shape for the age. Powered by the legendary Crown 6 cylinder gas engine, there are few vehicles that exist producing the roar these monsters made. This is a good running example in great shape. Starts easily and idles smoothly. Transmission shifts as expected. Is an air brake rig, holds air reasonably well. Have not had the drums off to verify how much brake shoe life is left. The pump is intact, have not connected to a hydrant to assess the packing. Currently owned by Spokane Firefighters Union Local 29. Not necessarily enthused about selling, but maintaining multiple parade vehicles has been challenging, so culling the herd a bit to put more focus on the earlier truck. $8000 obo. email - 667739f30491382aa71833f57f2e62e7@sale.craigslist.org

There were some amazing large gas engines in this period. My favorites are Hall-Scotts, which are SOHC and usually around 1,000 Cubic Inches.
