a1parrothead
Hello all, I just inherited a 1946 Ford Super Deluxe. It was built back in 1999 and at that time a 289 was put in as well as many other mods. It is a 12v system since the build. The problem I am having is the heater fan blower motor rattling and I can hear it hitting either the metal case or the worse yet, maybe the back of the heater core. I cannot be sure because it's so hard to see behind it. I can feel that the fan blades seem to be clearing everything thing when I rotate it by hand and spin it manually. But, I can also feel play in the fan blade shaft. It moves forward and backwards so I think when I turn it on it may be to much play and causing it to hit. Any suggestions on repairs or replacement would be helpful. Including where to get parts! Jeff
Oldtech
Most motors of that age can be dismantled and the bearings lubes and spacers (washers) installed to correct the endplay. Most Do it yourselfrs can handle it, perhaps with a little guidance.
