As you know, I've been trying to re-pack the nut for the water pump shaft on my 27 Commander for a while now with out any success, but today I decided to give it 1 more try and if it worked, great, if not; well, I was considering a couple of other choices, none that I liked. Grimey sent me some packing material that could be pulled apart to use a smaller diameter and after more fiddling around I added 1 small strand and the nut went on without much effort and after adding water it leaked very little. After running a while and tightening the nut it is doing good! Just got back from a test drive and every thing still looks good. A great big thank you to all who helped out !
